Payments & payouts

CLIMeter uses Stripe Connect to handle all payments. You connect your Stripe account once, and CLIMeter automatically collects from your users and transfers funds to you.

How it works

  1. You connect your Stripe account via /v1/billing/connect

  3. CLIMeter bills the consumer (user of your tool)

  4. CLIMeter deducts the platform fee (0% on first $1,000 earned lifetime; 4% after)

  5. Remaining funds are transferred to your Stripe account

  6. Stripe deposits into your bank account

You never touch payment logic. CLIMeter acts as the intermediary — it collects on your behalf and pays you out automatically.

Connect your Stripe account

You need a Stripe account to receive payouts. If you do not have one, Stripe will let you create one during the onboarding flow — it takes about 2 minutes.

Go to Billing in the dashboard

Navigate to Billing → Stripe Connect in your CLIMeter dashboard.

Click “Connect with Stripe”

CLIMeter generates a secure onboarding link via POST /v1/billing/connect and redirects you to Stripe.

Complete Stripe onboarding

Add your bank account, verify your identity (required by Stripe), and confirm your details.

You're connected

CLIMeter shows Stripe Connected ✓ in your billing dashboard. Payouts will start automatically.

Platform fee

CLIMeter charges a platform fee on gross tool revenue above your $1,000 free tier. The fee is deducted automatically before funds are transferred to your Stripe account — you never need to calculate or remit it manually.

When payouts happen

Payouts are triggered automatically once your Stripe account is connected and verified. Stripe typically takes 2–7 business days to deposit funds into your bank account, depending on your country and account type.

Status	Description
Pending	Funds collected, being processed by CLIMeter
Scheduled	Transfer queued to your Stripe account
Paid	Funds transferred to Stripe — Stripe then pays out to your bank
Failed	Transfer failed (usually a Stripe account issue) — retried automatically

Check your payout history via the dashboard or GET /v1/billing/payouts.

Disconnecting your Stripe account

You can disconnect your Stripe account at any time from Billing → Stripe Connect. Disconnecting stops future payouts but does not affect your historical payout records.

Warning

If you disconnect Stripe, any pending balance will remain in CLIMeter until you reconnect a Stripe account.
